Young Alberta's Book Society: Be mean to your main character? Story time? Tips from the Pros!
The Young Alberta Book Society has created a new way to bring Alberta's literary artists together with students. To bridge the gap until in-person artist visits are possible again, we’re excited to introduce YABS TV! Albertan authors, illustrators and storytellers have posted over a hundred short videos for students of all ages on our YouTube channel. The artists talk about writing, demonstrate illustration techniques, tell stories, and share their books. All the videos can be accessed for free here: https://www.youtube.com/youngalbertabooksociety.
Additionally, starting the week of June 1, we will be posting weekly videos with an interactive component. Each video will include an activity for the viewers to complete and will invite them to send their questions and finished works to the artist via YABS. Two weeks later, the artist will post a second video, responding to questions, providing feedback and encouragement to the viewers who reach out. Videos aimed at elementary students will be posted on Mondays.
